ABOUT LuMIC
Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LuMIC) aims to establish Lumut, Perak as a premium maritime industrial development area a designated coastal zone integrating port facilities with various industries. Our goal is to foster economic growth and regional development along the Straits of Malacca. Supported by strategic partnerships and feasability studies, LuMIC is set to drive investment, create jobs and fuel regional economic progress.
In December 2023, Port of Antwerp-Bruges International (PoABI) and Perak State Development Corporation (PKNPk), a significant state development agency, formed a strategic agreement to lead the development of Lumut. This substantial collaboration was strongly supported by the European Commission, which gave a €1.9 million grant for feasability studies, recognising the port’s remarkable potential as a thriving terminal for logistics and industrial activity.
Leveraging Lumut’s strategic location, LuMIC is designed to create a world-class maritime city that will drive long-term economic growth for Perak and the Northern Region.
Inspired by the successful Antwerp-Bruges port model, LuMIC aims to be the next maritime industrial hub that will attract global investment, foster growth and create 50,000 jobs over 25 years. It will offer exceptional business opportunities specifically for integrated logistics solutions and green circular economy.
