On 26 October 2025, The Chief Business Development Officer of LuMIC Development Sdn. Bhd. (LuMIC DevCo), Mr. Alex Staring, together with the Chief Executive of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNPk), YBhg. Datuk Redza Rafiq, attended the Malaysia-Brazil Business Summit 2025.

The summit was held in conjunction with the official visit of the President of Brazil, His Excellency Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to Malaysia during the ASEAN Summit 2025, and was graced by the presence of YAB Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

The Malaysia-Brazil Business Summit 2025 served as a strategic platform for Brazilian investors to explore development opportunities in Malaysia, particularly in the maritime sector through the Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LuMIC) project in Perak.

Mr. Alex Staring’s participation at the summit reflects LuMIC DevCo’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships and expanding its investment network with Brazilian companies across diverse industries. These engagements further underscore LuMIC’s position as a key investment destination within Malaysia’s maritime and industrial development landscape.

During the visit, LuMIC DevCo also held a meeting with Vale S.A., one of Brazil’s leading mining companies, to discuss potential collaboration and investment opportunities within the Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LuMIC) project in Perak.
